I took the Dare

Last month I was invited to write a Halloween story in 50 words. I took the Dare and succeeded.

‘Why are earthlings so macabre with lanterns and ghoulish disguises tonight?’ asked St. Peter at Heaven’s Pearly gate.  ‘Tomorrow’s our glorious feast day. Can’t they celebrate with light and joy instead of darkness and superstition?’

‘We’ve been trying to teach that for two millennia’, replied St Paul. ‘It never works’.

Well,  I wrote the story but I didn’t meet the  second part of the Dare. It was meant to be a horror story. Not very spooky, you must admit. I’ll have to try harder at the Dare next year. After all, I don’t want to settle for being unimportant and uninteresting when there’s plenty of opportunity to use the physical, mental, social and spiritual resources we are all encouraged to develop. The book gives you details about how to live a 4 square life and be the best version of yourself.
